On March 20, the Bush Center hosted a conversation on the role of “extraordinary ordinary people” in advocating for freedom and liberty as part of the Engage at the Bush Center series presented by NexPoint.

As a companion program to the Bush Center’s 2023 Freedom Matters special exhibit, the Bush Center hosted Carlyle Group Co-Founder and Co-Chairman David Rubenstein and “America’s Government Teacher” Sharon McMahon – known as @SharonSaysSo on Instagram – as part of Engage at the Bush Center series presented by NexPoint. They joined Bush Center CEO Ken Hersh to discuss the importance of reading, great teachers, and democracy.

The Bush Center’s new exhibit, Freedom Matters, encourages visitors to consider what we can all do in our everyday lives to advocate for the blessings of liberty and a free society. The special exhibit features historical documents and artifacts, including rare versions of the Declaration of Independence; the Constitution of the United States; and the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as books by philosophers John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau and a 14th-century copy of the Magna Carta.

Freedom Matters is open through December 31, 2023. Tickets are available for purchase here
