Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau joins the Bush Institute as the Bradford M. Freeman managing director of global policy

DALLAS —The George W. Bush Institute announced today that Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau has joined the organization as the Bradford M. Freeman managing director of global policy. In this role, Trudeau will leverage her decades of experience as a senior member of the United States Foreign Service and her significant knowledge of international relations, diplomacy, and strategic communications to lead the development of the Bush Institute’s global policy portfolio.

“We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth Trudeau to the team,” said David J. Kramer, executive director of the Bush Institute. “Her truly impressive diplomatic experience, including senior positions held at the U.S. Mission to NATO and the Pentagon, will deeply enrich our global policy strategy.”

As a diplomat for the U.S. Department of State, Trudeau most recently served as deputy chief of mission in Baghdad, Iraq. Before that, she worked in Ukraine as senior advisor for the Bureau of Global Talent Management and acting deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv. Trudeau was also based in Pakistan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, among other overseas postings for the Foreign Service. In Washington, she previously served as the acting assistant secretary for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs and as the principal deputy assistant to the secretary of defense for public affairs. She also completed details with the National Security Council and NATO’s international staff. Before joining the Foreign Service, she was communications director for a private charitable foundation.

Under Trudeau’s leadership, the Bush Institute’s global policy team will amplify its work to promote democratic values globally, counter authoritarian regimes and corruption, enhance U.S. engagement in global health, and advocate for women and girls.

Trudeau will lead the Bush Institute’s global policy team consisting of distinguished foreign affairs experts including Nicole Bibbins Sedaca; Dr. Deborah Birx; Dr. Victor Cha; Natalie Gonnella-Platts; Hannah Johnson; Igor Khrestin; Joseph Kim; Jessica Ludwig; Celia Siade-Cox; and Christopher Walsh.
