DALLAS – The George W. Bush Presidential Center is accepting media credential requests through Wednesday, Sept. 2 to attend A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. This will be President Bush’s only public remarks reflecting on the anniversary, and he is not accepting interview requests next month. The George W. Bush Presidential Center will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11 with a special Engage at the Bush Center presented by NexPoint on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. CT. A Legacy of Service: America at the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 will examine the enduring impact of the attacks and the spirit of service that continues to shape the nation in their aftermath.
The program will open with a moderated conversation between General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and former Deputy National Security Advisor, J.D. Crouch. Their discussion will highlight the courage and accomplishments of our military in the Global War on Terror since 9/11.
The second conversation of the evening will be between the 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush, and the 66th United States Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, who will share their reflections on the legacy and meaning of 9/11 – how the day changed the country, how it continues to shape American life, and how the call to serve remains as urgent as ever.
The event will also feature voices from the post-9/11 generation of veterans, including Jared Lyon and Melissa Stockwell, whose service and continued contributions embody the resilience, courage, and unity that emerged from the tragedy.
Together, these conversations will offer a thoughtful, elevated reflection on a defining moment in American history and on the enduring commitment to service that continues to strengthen the nation.

During their visit to New York, President and Mrs. Bush will also visit a fire station and spend time with family members of first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11.
They will also attend a memorial service at the United States Secret Service New York Field Office, which was among the first to respond on 9/11.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, President Bush has painted 16 all-new works of art to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience that emerged from one of the most defining moments in American history. This collection marks the sixth exhibition of President Bush’s artwork and will be on display in Freedom Hall at the Bush Museum Sept. 1-30, 2026.
