Interviews with Rodrigo Diamanti

Interviewed January 4, 2010

Well, in Venezuela, they shut down the most important window for freedom, that was RCTV [Radio Caracas Televison], one of the most important channel for the opposition. We start to thinking about different ways to spread our message, our point of view.

So we start writing on blogs. We started recording some messages for YouTube. And we start getting from here, with the Internet and with e-mails, to spread our message. And that´s how in the 2008 we started to creating a movement based on Internet tools. And it was at the end of two– two thousand– beginning of 2009, where we created “AWorld Without Censorship. That´s an organization that works with– Internet, one of the time.. We have representation in 30 cities around the world. And with that, we can spread our message in a very cheap way but in a very efficient way.

Well, our movement is not only based on– to fight for the freedom of speech in Venezuela. We also– we have a movement that is oriented– in a world-oriented. It´s world-oriented organization because we think that– the freedom of speech– the better way to help your country is also helping your neighbors. And the totalitarianism– virus is also threatening other countries– around Venezuela. So we made this– worldwide-oriented movement. That is called “A World Without Censorship” – so we could help other countries, not only Venezuela. I think that´s the best way to– to help Venezuela – it’s by helping other countries, too.
