Aung Ye Htut serves as senior program specialist at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Myanmar. He is responsible for supporting USIP programming in Myanmar including its Justice and Security Dialogue, Policing for Peace, security sector support in the peace process, and other peace-related initiatives. He worked closely with security providers to deter election violence and promote a peaceful election in 2015, a critical stage for the country’s transition to democracy.
Prior to USIP, Aung Ye Htut worked for a local civil organization called Innovative Academy. As a research associate, he worked with national parliamentarians and political parties by supporting data and advocacy on conflict analysis, the peace process, and the dynamics of inter-communal and inter-ethnic issues in the country.
