The Bush Center Presents “Looking to the Future: Bold Ideas from Bold Leaders”

Dr. Deborah L. Birx and Secretary Betsy DeVos take the stage; President Bush to give remarks at Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint, on Oct. 4

DALLAS, TEXAS – On Oct. 4, the George W. Bush Presidential Center welcomes Dr. Deborah L. Birx, Bush Institute Senior Fellow, and Betsy DeVos, former Secretary of Education, for a conversation on advancing healthcare, education, and lessons learned from the coronavirus pandemic at Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint. The panel will also discuss the role of public-private partnerships and the positive change they can make in our communities.

President George W. Bush, who will deliver introductory remarks, will be in attendance with Mrs. Laura Bush.

Dr. Birx has spent her career serving the United States, first as an Army Colonel and later running some of the most influential programs at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and at the U.S. Department of State, including overseeing the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). Dr. Birx most recently served as the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator.

Secretary DeVos is an accomplished business leader and philanthropist who is passionate about quality education for all children and an advocate of education freedom, having served as the 11th United States Secretary of Education from 2017 to 2021.

Bush Institute Executive Director Holly Kuzmich will lead the conversation featuring the two dynamic leaders as they share insights and ideas on the future of our country.
