On August 20, the Bush Center welcomes former crew members of Air Force One for a rare, behind‑the‑scenes look at the aircraft, the crew, and the zero‑fail mission of transporting the President of the United States.
This moderated conversation features retired Col. Mark Tillman — President George W. Bush’s pilot and commander of Air Force One — whose 30‑year Air Force career included leading the aircraft on September 11, 2001, and executing the covert Thanksgiving Day flight into Baghdad. The conversation will also feature Reginald “Reggie” Dickson, who dedicated twenty-nine years of distinguished service to the United States Air Force; for nineteen of those years, he proudly served as a flight attendant entrusted with supporting the nation’s highest leaders, including two Vice Presidents and three Presidents. Joining them on stage is Chief Master Sgt. Rick Holley, a veteran Communications Systems Officer who served aboard Air Force One during the administrations of Presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Clinton.
Together, they will share stories of precision, secrecy, and service at the highest levels of government, offering an inside look at the people and protocols that keep the presidency connected, protected, and moving around the world. Moderated by Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary for President George W. Bush.
