Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint
As we continue to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, join us on Saturday, May 9 as the Bush Center welcomes back United States Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch and New York Times bestselling author Janie Nitze to discuss their debut nonfiction picture book, HEROES OF 1776: THE STORY OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE.
At this family friendly event, Justice Gorsuch and Janie Nitze will discuss how their children’s book brings to life the courage and sacrifice of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Thomas Paine, to name a few of the remarkable stories.
“We wanted to share the human stories behind the document that changed everything—the Declaration of Independence,” says Justice Gorsuch. “Behind the bold words were real people, with dreams, fears, and families. So many brave yet often forgotten men, women, and children gave their hearts and sometimes their lives to the cause of independence. I hope children and families will be inspired as they step into the lives of those who helped build our nation.”
If you choose to purchase a book with your ticket, Justice Gorsuch and Janie Nitze will sign books after the program. There will NOT be an opportunity for personalization or photos.
Ticket sales will close on Monday, May 4, 2026.
