May Zaw Naing is a medical doctor with the Su Taung Pyae Monastic School, where she provides for the healthcare needs of students. As an executive committee member of the Organizing Committee of the General Practitioners’ Society in Yangon, May Zaw Naing also organizes workshops on medical governance, medical ethics, psychotherapy, stigmatized mental disorders, and primary trauma care.
In service to others, May Zaw Naing delivers medical care to orphans and AIDS patients, founded and runs the Physicians for Human Rights Myanmar chapter, and is a graduate of the DeBoer Fellowship. Her advocacy for rural communities and equal access to health care and psychosocial support services is a pillar of her value system. With specific interests in psychology, May Zaw Naing hopes to dispel stigma in Myanmar related to mental illness and disability.
