Liberty and Leadership Forum

Ei Ei Phyu serves as a program coordinator for Eastern Burma Community Schooling (EBCS), a project of the Karen Teachers Working Group (KTWG) that brings together multi-ethnic education leaders and teachers from across Eastern Burma to develop mutual understanding and cooperation on issues related to education, professional development, and language. The project also provides much-needed teacher training and education assistance for more than 1,600 schools across multiple remote and conflict-affected indigenous areas.

As project coordinator, Ei Ei Phyu is responsible for a mobile teacher training project that supports professional development of teachers and school management, raising awareness around the values of education, learning in a child’s mother tongue, and engaging with the local community. In addition to facilitating dialogue between multi-ethnic education stakeholders, she supports an education assistance program that provides basic teaching and learning materials to teachers, students, and schools to facilitate and enhance opportunities for learning and teaching outcomes.
