Thank you for registering to attend our event, “Mostly What God Does” – A Conversation with Author Savannah Guthrie, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. – part of our popular series of public programming, Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint.

Below you will find important event information as you plan your arrival. Please review in detail as some event logistics may have changed. This is a sold out event.

Schedule of Events

5:00 p.m. Check in opens
6:20 p.m. Check in closes*
6:30 p.m. Program begins
7:30 p.m. Program concludes

Note: The George W. Bush Presidential Museum permanent exhibit in The Boeing Company Exhibition Gallery and special exhibit in The Bradford M. Freeman Exhibition Gallery will be open.
7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Book pick up in the Bush Museum Ceremonial Courtyard
8:30 p.m. Exhibits and Museum Store close

* Note: In consideration of our speakers and guests in attendance, doors will promptly close at 6:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly to avoid any delays for your arrival.

Event Parking

We have very limited parking on campus. Please note the parking options below.

Ride Share

Using a ride-share service is highly encouraged. Drivers may drop off and pick up at the designated location on the map below. Please note the physical address of the Bush Institute is 6100 Bush Avenue, on the west side of the complex. The main Bush Museum entrance on SMU Boulevard will not be open.

Alto Offerings
Compliments of the luxury rideshare service Alto, please enjoy $15 off rides to and from the event with code ENGAGEFEB24.

SMU Parking

Limited additional campus parking for Bush Center events is available across North Central Expressway (75) as referenced below. A shuttle service will be provided from this location to the Bush Center. These lots are free of charge and do NOT require a SMU credential.

  • Lots W3 (Closest physical address 5551 SMU Blvd.)
  • Lots W4 and W6 (Closest physical address 5518 Dyer St.)

Shuttle Service

Shuttles will run before and after the event from SMU Parking Lots W3, W4, and W6 and follow the schedule below. Look for signage directing you to the shuttle pickup location as notated on the parking map.

5:00 p.m. Shuttle service to the Bush Center begins
6:00 p.m. Last shuttle to the Bush Center departs
7:30 p.m. Shuttle service to SMU lots resumes
8:45 p.m. Shuttle service to SMU lots concludes

 

Bush Center Parking

Limited event parking will be available in the Bush Center visitor lot located directly across the street from the George W. Bush Presidential Museum entrance (please reference the map below). Parking in these lots is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

When using the crosswalk between the parking lot and the Bush Center, please make sure to illuminate the lights to let drivers know you are crossing.

Check-In and Security Information

Check-in will take place on February 15, 2024, when doors open at 5:00 p.m. in the lobby of the George W. Bush Institute. For security purposes, you will be required to present a photo ID and proceed through security screening.

Prohibited Items

Prior to your arrival, review our list of prohibited items below.

  • No weapons of any type, including pocket knives or guns are allowed inside the facility.
  • No outside food and drink.
  • Large bags and backpacks are not permitted. Only one purse or diaper bag is allowed per person, and bags cannot be larger than 17 × 26 inches (43 × 66 centimeters) in size.

Seating

Seating for this event is sold out and has two ticket types, Auditorium or Overflow in the Hall of State. Upon your arrival, Bush Center staff will direct you to a seat in the Auditorium or Hall of State. Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Cash Bar

A cash bar will be available for purchase. If you wish to bring your beverage into the auditorium, a Bush Center branded reusable tumbler can be purchased for $4.00. These are available at point of sale.
