Mrs. Bush is excited to welcome Heather Morris for the sixth “Laura Bush Book Club” edition of Engage at the Bush Center, presented by NexPoint. Morris is the author of three novels, including The Tattooist of Auschwitz, a No. 1 international bestseller that sold more than 12 million copies in 47 languages and will soon be an original series on Peacock.

It has been described as a “beautiful, illuminating tale of hope and courage…based on interviews that were conducted with Holocaust survivor and Auschwitz-Birkenau tattooist Ludwig (Lale) Sokolov—an unforgettable love story in the midst of atrocity.” Anne Wicks, the Don Evans Family Managing Director of Opportunity and Democracy at the George W. Bush Institute, will moderate what is sure to be a memorable conversation.

A panel of former White House Social Secretaries will share insights and behind-the-scenes stories about entertaining at the White House. From State Dinners to picnics on the South Lawn, the experts will discuss the importance of the White House as a stage for hospitality and diplomacy.

Anita McBride, former Assistant to President Bush and Chief of Staff to Mrs. Laura Bush, will moderate a conversation with Jeremy Bernard, former White House Social Secretary to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama; Gahl Hodges Burt, former White House Social Secretary to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan; and Amy Zantzinger, former White House Social Secretary to President Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush.

Eclipse Viewing at the Bush Center

Great North American Eclipse Viewing in the Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park

Step into the heart of the Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park for a chance to see the Great North American Eclipse as it crosses Dallas on April 8, 2024. Texas Master Naturalists will offer tours of the park while we wait for the eclipse to reach totality around 1:40 p.m. Join us at the Bush Center to experience this rare and exciting event!

The eclipse viewing is free, but space is limited. You must register in advance to attend. Eclipse glasses will be available while supplies last.

Storytime at the Bush Museum

Join us for storytime in the children’s reading area of the Boeing Exhibition Gallery at the Bush Museum. Each week, a Bush Center staff member will read aloud one of Mrs. Laura Bush’s favorite picture books or from her recommended reading list. This event is free with museum admission and recommended for ages five and under.
