The research is clear: principals are critical to school improvement and student achievement. The Alliance to Reform Education Leadership (AREL) is working to redefine the role of and empower America’s school leaders. For students to be prepared to compete in an increasingly global economy, principals must be strong leaders who hire, develop, support, and retain good teachers. AREL works to improve principal training programs with the goal of focusing education reform efforts on the need for strong leadership in public education.
