The George W. Bush Presidential Museum offers summer fun for everyone – from book lovers and history aficionados to those searching for a memorable photo op in the museum’s replica Oval Office or the Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park. Explore summer events and activities below.
Free Admission for K-12 Educators
The Bush Museum is now offering free admission to eligible K-12 educators when they present a valid school ID at the box office on the day of their visit. This offer is for a single free ticket and does not apply to additional paid programs or parking. Find more details here.
Situation Room Tours
Free tours of the Bush Museum’s Situation Room, which features artifacts from the White House’s intelligence center during the George W. Bush Administration, are available at the following times each week:
- Saturdays at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
- Sundays at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- Mondays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Attendees are given a 30-minute presentation on the history of the Situation Room and have the opportunity to take photos. Admission to the Bush Museum is not included with the tour. Register to tour the Situation Room here.
Mrs. Laura Bush’s Summer Reading List
Mrs. Laura Bush’s 2024 Summer Reading List, which includes books for toddlers through middle schoolers, is now available here. The list is a resource for parents, grandparents, and caregivers to ensure kids can enjoy reading all summer long. Books from the reading list are available for purchase at the George W. Bush Presidential Museum Store or online here.
Storytime
Storytime at the Bush Museum will continue throughout the summer season every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Recommended for children ages 5 and under, some of Mrs. Laura Bush’s favorite picture books are read aloud to attendees. The weekly event is free but does not include admission to the Bush Museum. Learn more and register here.
Permanent Exhibit
A ticket to the Bush Museum includes admission to the permanent exhibit in The Boeing Company Exhibition Gallery, which offers a moving display on Sept. 11, 2001, an interactive experience in presidential decision-making, a replica Oval Office, and a Texas Rose Garden.
Special Exhibit: Freedom Matters
Explore the Bush Museum’s special exhibit in The Bradford M. Freeman Exhibition Gallery, Freedom Matters, which features rare artifacts and interactive activities that examine the concept of freedom both at home and abroad. Artifacts include a 14th-century copy of the Magna Carta as well as rare versions of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, and Bill of Rights. Experienced museum docents are on hand to answer questions on the artifacts and history explored in both the permanent and special exhibits.
Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park
The Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park is open to the public year-round and reflects President and Mrs. Bush’s love of the native Texas landscape. Visitors can explore the 15-acre park and native Texas environments such as Blackland Prairie, Post Oak Savannah, and Cross Timbers Forest.
