Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management, brings authors, thought leaders, and newsmakers to the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

As part of our Transformations and Foundations series, Bush Center CEO Ken Hersh will moderate the Highland Capital Lecture, a lively conversation on the disruptive nature of technology on the global economy and our established institutions.

The panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by transformational technology, including bitcoin, artificial intelligence, and the blockchain, and how those emerging forces affect our lives, the future of our economy and potentially, our national sovereignty.

Our panel of experts features Barry Eichengreen, professor of economics and political science at Cal-Berkeley and a former senior advisor at the International Monetary Fund; Robert S. Kaplan, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas; and Tuur Demeester, founder of bitcoin fund Adamant Capital. Jim Dondero, co-founder and president of Highland Capital Management – the presenting sponsor of Engage at the Bush Center – will offer opening remarks.
