Memorial Day Weekend at the Bush Center

President and Mrs. Bush and the George W. Bush Presidential Center are committed to honoring our Nation’s current and former military members every day of every year.  This Memorial Day, we would like to salute the fallen members of our military and their families by telling stories of heroism of Medal of Honor recipients.

Additionally, we would like to offer the below discount to currently serving military members and their families.

 

Free Bush Library and Museum admission for active duty military

Active duty military are invited to visit the George W. Bush Library and Museum free of charge throughout the year.  From Memorial Day Monday through Labor Day on September 7, 2015, the Bush Library and Museum will also offer free admission for up to five family members of active duty military members as part of the Blue Star Museums program.

The Blue Star Museums program is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America.  The free admission program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), a DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active duty U.S. military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps - and up to five family members.

Museum Docent Talks

Docents will give talks at the Bush Library and Museum during Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 23rd through Monday, May 25th.  Docents will discuss the history of the Medal of Honor, examining the heroism and family ties of Medal of Honor recipients during the Administration of President George W. Bush.

Docent talks are at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. in the classroom on Saturday and Monday and at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Additional times may be added at the discretion of the presenter.
