The vice presidential debate is underway in Danville, Kentucky. The first segment was dedicated to foreign policy, but the candidates are now debating economic policy. The segment kicked off with moderator Martha Raddatz stating that the “number one” issue is “jobs.” Today Amity Shlaes and I argued in a Bloomberg column that the real issue is growth. We are therefore thrilled that Paul Ryan said that America needs growth, and that his economic plan is all about getting the America economy growing at 4% a year. Let’s hope the debate continues around this growth theme.
