Are visits to the Bush Center able to be held safely?
Yes, we are committed to keeping our guests as safe as possible. We are taking precautions to reduce the exposure of our guests, volunteers, and staff. Thus, we are inviting guests, with a limited capacity and with safety protocols in place.
What is the Bush Center’s approach to addressing COVID-19 concerns?
The safety and well-being of our guests, volunteers, and staff are of the utmost importance. We are closely monitoring and implementing public health direction, including CDC guidelines regarding cleaning and disinfecting protocols, physical distancing, and other health and safety measures.
What sanitization protocols are in place?
In accordance with CDC guidelines, all commonly touched surfaces (doorknobs, elevator buttons, restrooms, etc.) are sanitized throughout the day. In addition, hand sanitizing stations are deployed throughout the Bush Center, touchless hand soap dispensers are in every restroom, and occupancy limits for all spaces are reduced to reinforce physical distancing.
What if I am interested an event, but do not wish to attend in person?
We offer virtual streaming of our events and programs. Information about our virtual streams will be provided before each specific event for which you have registered. Programs will also be added to the Bush Center’s website following the event. We highly encourage our guests that are in a high-risk group for COVID-19 to take advantage of these virtual options.
What should I expect when I arrive to the Bush Center?
Parking and Entrances
Self-parking can be found in our Visitor Parking Lot located on SMU Boulevard. There is also a passenger drop-off lane available in front of the Bush Institute on Bush Avenue that can be utilized to drop off guests before parking in the Visitor Lot. Guests will receive a detailed email prior to the event with parking instructions and specific details on event entrances.
We are requiring all guests to wear cloth or disposable face coverings while at the Bush Center for the duration of our event except when eating and/or drinking. Face coverings should cover the individual’s nose and mouth. If you do not have a cloth or disposable face covering, or forget to bring one, we will provide you with a cloth covering on-site. Out of respect for everyone's safety, there are no exceptions.
We are conducting temperature screenings of all guests, volunteers, and Bush Center staff upon arrival at the Bush Center. Any person with a temperature at or above 100 degrees will not be permitted to enter.
Contactless check-in is conducted in accordance with physical distancing. Floor markers are in place to indicate 6 feet of distance between guests in line. Please be prepared for slightly longer lines and wait times.
Security personnel are conducting screenings as normal. All security personnel are required to wear face coverings and gloves.
Small personal belongings are permitted. However, we recommend limiting personal belongings when possible. Large Bags and Luggage are not permitted.
What can I expect during a Bush Center Event?
All guest arrivals and departures will be staggered. Guests will receive detailed instructions prior to the event explaining their specific arrival window.
Physical distancing measures are in place for guests starting at their arrival to the Bush Center up to their departure. We ask that guests proceed directly to their seats once completing the check-in and security process.
Guests attending the event together are permitted to sit with each other. All seat assignments are measured to ensure appropriate physical distance.
Total event capacity will not exceed the limit allowed under the State, County, and local regulations and recommendations.
Congregating in any area of the Bush Center, prior to or following an event, is not permitted. Bush Center staff will remind guests to proceed directly to their seats upon completing the check-in and security process. Guests will be encouraged to exit the facility immediately following an event.
We are increasing cleaning and disinfecting procedures, including all high touch surfaces found in restrooms. All restrooms are equipped with touchless hand soap dispensers, sinks, and hand dryers.
Elevators are operated by Bush Center staff, who are required to wear masks. Only two guests and one staff member are permitted to utilize the elevator at a time.
Food and Beverage Service
Our on-site catering team is taking all precautions to keep our guests as safe as possible. Cloth face coverings and gloves will be worn by our catering staff during food preparation, event setup, and food service. All self-serve food and beverage stations are suspended for the time being.
We will be performing general health checks on our staff, including taking their temperature daily. Anyone showing signs of a fever at or over 100 degrees will be sent home.
