Staff Sergeant Michael D. Morabito served with the 2nd Infantry Division, 1-503rd ABN/ASSLT and deployed from Camp Casey, Korea, to Ramadi, Iraq, in July 2004. He was wounded on November 4, 2004, by a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) during extraction to COP. He suffered severe burns and spinal cord injuries, and received a Purple Heart for his actions that day.
Staff Sergeant Morabito has been married for ten years to his wonderful wife, Karen, and they have two outstanding daughters, ages six and nine. He is currently working on a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling to work with Veterans and their families.
