Sergeant Jay K. Fain, Jr. joined the U.S. Army in May 2005 as an infantryman.  He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in July 2006.  Fain, Jr. was wounded on June 26, 2007, when he was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.), resulting in the amputation of his right leg up to his hip.  He also suffered from third-degree burns and shrapnel wounds.  Fain, Jr. was medically retired in July 2008.

Fain, Jr. loves volunteer work, helping his local veterans and the community.  His hobbies include riding his Harley, cooking and spending time with friends.  Fain, Jr. currently lives in West Columbia, South Carolina where he spends free time working out, specifically lifting weights.  He works for Rogue American Apparel.
