Dr. Eric Olson is a molecular biologist who discovered many of the genes that control development and disease of the heart and other muscles. He holds the Robert A. Welch Distinguished Chair and the Annie and Willie Nelson Professorship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Olson, a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, has published over 600 scientific articles and is among the most cited scientists worldwide. He has co-founded multiple biotechnology companies to develop new therapies for heart disease and is currently advancing gene editing technologies to correct muscular dystrophy.
