Dr. Ben Bernanke is a Distinguished Fellow in Residence with the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution. From February 2006 through January 2014, he was chairman of the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System. Before his appointment as chairman, Bernanke was chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers from June 2005 to January 2006. He was on the faculty of Stanford University from 1979 to 1985 and of Princeton University from 1985 to 2002. He received a B.A. in economics in 1975 from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in economics in 1979 from MIT.
