Staff Sergeant Christopher McCoy served as a medic in the Iraq war. He is the recipient of many honors, but his greatest personal achievement is the Army Commendation Medal with Valor he received for performing a surgical crichothyroidotomy on a soldier. His quick reaction saved the life of that soldier and eight others wounded that day. Staff Sergeant McCoy was injured by six separate IED explosions while guarding the road between Fallujah and Ramadi Iraq. He was diagnosed with severe traumatic brain injury and severe PTS migraines due to the concussions. He has been playing golf as part of his recovery process since leaving the service.
