Lance Corporal Adam McCann enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2004 as a 0331 Machine Gunner.  On April 24, 2005 he was injured in Hit, Iraq by shrapnel from enemy mortar explosions to his neck and both legs.

After being medically discharged, McCann began cycling as rehabilitation for his injuries.  In 2014, he successfully completed the Leadville Trail 100 MTB and earned the coveted Leadville Trail 100 MTB belt buckle. 

McCann was selected as a rider for the 2015 W100K and returned as a volunteer for the 2016 W100K and the 2017 Alumni W100K rides.  In 2017 he also participated in Team 43's Inaugural Continuing Leadership and Regional Engagement Series.  He plans to continue to volunteer with Team 43 at future events and functions.  He currently resides in Vermilion, Ohio.
