The George W. Bush Institute’s Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program is increasing the impact and developing the skills of those who serve our nation's veterans and their families. The program is aimed at bold leaders from across the country – including civilians, veterans, military spouses, and active-duty service members – who are addressing the most challenging issues facing our veteran and military family communities.

We're looking for leaders who:
  • Demonstrate leadership in their careers and/or communities and are ready to take that leadership to the next level (usually at least 10 years of experience)
  • Possess a strong commitment to serving veterans and their families
  • Demonstrate an ability to self-assess with humility and understand their strengths and weaknesses as a leader
  • Have a moderate-to-high level of expertise in one or more issues relevant to supporting the veteran and military family community

The Boot
A group of Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program alumni across multiple cohorts recently teamed up to form The Boot, an organization designed to recruit, return, and retain military service members to Louisiana after their service concludes.

Lacey Beaty, 2021 Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program Scholar and Mayor of Beaverton, Oregon, continues to advocate for equitable policy for our veterans and the importance of collaboration across the aisle.
