Spend an afternoon with America’s favorite sister duo, Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush! This enchanting story beautifully captures the deep connection between parents and their children, drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature and the love that shapes our most cherished moments.

Jenna and Barbara will be reading their new picture book, I Loved You First (published by Hachette Book Group/Little Brown Books for Young Readers). This is a timed entry event. You will purchase tickets for either 12:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. A minimum of one book per ticket order is required. Additional books may be purchased.

The reading will be held in the scenic Carolyn and David Miller Amphitheater, located within the Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park. Afterward, guests will receive their purchased pre-signed books. The event will also feature festive children’s activities and refreshments for the whole family to enjoy.

Jenna Bush Hager is a host of NBC’s Today with Jenna & Friends and the founder of Today’s Read with Jenna book club. She is the co-author of the New York Times bestsellers Love Comes First, Sisters First, The Superpower Sisterhood, and Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life with her twin sister, as well as Our Great Big Backyard and Read All About It! with her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush. She is also the author of an essay collection, Everything Beautiful in Its Time.

Barbara Pierce Bush is a board member and co-founder of Global Health Corps, an organization that has mobilized more than one thousand young leaders to solve some of the world’s biggest global health challenges. She is also Vice President, Social Impact for the NBA and co-author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Sisters First, The Superpower Sisterhood, and Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life.

The Six Triple Eight: Quiet Heroism in WWII

The incredible story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only Black Women’s Army Corps unit in World War II, comes to the Bush Center. The Six Triple Eight battled racism and misogyny while contributing to war effort by clearing a backlog of 17 million pieces of soldier mail in three months from a warehouse in Birmingham, England.

Hear a discussion with Milauna Jackson, who plays Captain Campbell in the Netflix film The Six Triple Eight; Nicole Avant, the critically acclaimed producer of the Netflix film, bestselling author, and former U.S. ambassador; retired Army Col. Edna Cummings, who produced a documentary on the Six Triple Eight in 2019 and passionately – and successfully – advocated for the battalion to be recognized with the Congressional Gold Medal.
