The Future of Texas: Ensuring the Long-Term Prosperity of All Texans
DALLAS (January 30, 2020) – On February 5, the George W. Bush Presidential Center will present “The Future of Texas,” as part of the “Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management” series. Holly Kuzmich, Executive Director of the George W. Bush Institute, will moderate two panel discussions with renowned policy experts, including chair of the Permian Strategic Partnership Don Evans; former UT-Brownsville President Dr. Juliet Garcia; CEO of The Center for Houston’s Future Brett Perlman; M.D. Anderson President Peter Pisters M.D.; CEO of Lyda Hill Philanthropies Nicole Small; Margaret Spellings, former U.S. Secretary of Education and Bush Center President now serving as President & CEO of Texas 2036; and CEO of Dallas Citizens Council Kelvin Walker. These experts will examine the future of our state and the changes and challenges that lie ahead. Auditorium seating for this event is sold out, but the program will be live streamed at bushcenter.org and via Facebook Live.
By 2036, our state will be home to 10 million more Texans. That growth represents significant opportunity, but also poses a number of challenges. This program has been developed in conjunction with Texas 2036, a nonpartisan effort of business and civic leaders to plan and identify policy solutions that gets its name from the future bicentennial of the state.
The Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management series brings newsmakers, thought leaders, and authors to the George W. Bush Presidential Center. Thought-provoking – and often entertaining – panel discussions and keynote conversations allow our guests to connect with the Bush Center in a meaningful way and dive deeper into many of today’s most pressing policy areas and issues.
