Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management Presents The Boeing Lecture: “Leadership in Today’s Military”

Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management to Welcome Admiral McRaven for The Boeing Lecture: “Leadership in Today’s Military” on Nov. 13

DALLAS (November 1, 2018) – On November 13, The George W. Bush Presidential Center will present Leadership in Today’s Military, part of the “Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management” series.  The sold-out event will be livestreamed at bushcenter.org, and via Facebook Live and Twitter.

The program will be moderated by Harris Faulkner of Fox News and features headline panelist Admiral William McRaven, USN, (Ret.), who as commander of U.S. Special Operations Command led the planning and execution of the secret raid that eliminated Osama Bin Laden in 2011. The other panelists include members of The Bush Institute’s inaugural Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program:

  • Mary Beth Bruggeman, Program and Vice President for Program Strategy at The Mission Continues, a non-profit that empowers veterans to lead in their communities, and a U.S. Naval Academy graduate. The proudest moment of her military career was “leading a company of Marines into Iraq during the 2003 invasion…and leading them back out safely!”

  • Jason Pak, Senior Manager at Boeing, leading veteran outreach. Pak graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and was wounded by a dismounted IED while on foot patrol in Afghanistan in 2012. He medically retired with the rank of Captain, and his awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.

Faulkner, the winner of multiple Emmy awards, is the author of “9 Rules of Engagement: A Military Brat’s Guide to Life and Success,” published in June 2018.

The Engage public programming series brings newsmakers, thought leaders, and innovators to the Bush Center. Thought-provoking lectures and discussions allow visitors to connect with the Bush Center in a new way and dive deeper into many of the issues and policy areas that matter most.

The Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program is a first-of-its-kind program aimed at individuals serving our nation’s veterans who are motivated to broaden their skillsets, knowledge, and influence across the country. It is part of the Bush Institute’s commitment to developing and supporting effective leaders, and builds on The Bush Institute’s extensive body of work on veteran transition issues.
