On October 22, The George W. Bush Presidential Center will present “Cryptocurrencies, AI, and Disruptive Technologies That Will Redefine the Global Economy,” part of the “Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management” series.

DALLAS (October 18, 2018) – On October 22, The George W. Bush Presidential Center will present “Cryptocurrencies, AI, and Disruptive Technologies That Will Redefine the Global Economy,” part of the “Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management” series. The sold-out event will be livestreamed via bushcenter.org and via Facebook Live.

Bush Center CEO Ken Hersh will moderate the Highland Capital Lecture, a lively conversation on the disruptive nature of technology on the global economy and our established institutions, and part of the Bush Center’s Transformations and Foundations lecture series.

The panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by transformational technology, including bitcoin, artificial intelligence, and the blockchain, and how those emerging forces affect our lives, the future of our economy, and potentially, our national sovereignty. The panel features:

  • Barry Eichengreen, professor of economics and political science at the University of California-Berkley and a former senior advisor at the International Monetary Fund
  • Robert S. Kaplan, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
  • Tuur Demeester, founder of bitcoin fund Adamant Capital

Jim Dondero, co-founder and president of Highland Capital Management – the presenting sponsor of “Engage at the Bush Center” – will offer opening remarks.

The Engage public programming series brings newsmakers, thought-leaders, and innovators to the Bush Center. Thought-provoking lectures and discussions allow visitors to connect with the Bush Center in a new way and dive deeper into many of the issues and policy areas that matter most.
