Bush Institute to Host Forum on Freedom and Security in New York City

Featuring Remarks by President George W. Bush, Mrs. Laura Bush, and Conversation with Secretary Madeleine Albright, Secretary Condoleezza Rice, and Ambassador Nikki Haley

NEW YORK, NY (October 5, 2017) — On Thursday, October 19, the George W. Bush Institute will host The Spirit of Liberty: At Home, In the World, a national forum in New York City focused on freedom, free markets, and security.

The event will include remarks by President George W. Bush, remarks by Mrs. Laura Bush, as well as a conversation on American leadership with former United States Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, and former United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. 

There will also be a panel discussion on domestic issues featuring: Jean Case, Chief Executive Officer, Case Foundation and Chairman of the National Geographic Society; Mel Martinez, Chairman of the Southeast & Latin America for JPMorgan Chase & Co., former United States Senator and former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; Wes Moore, CEO, Robin Hood Foundation; Jeffrey Rosen, President and Chief Executive Officer, National Constitution Center; and Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE).

The event will bring together top business leaders, scholars, policymakers, and others to look practically and optimistically at the challenges democracy is facing here and around the world. The forum is part of an effort by the Bush Institute to affirm American values of freedom and free markets, strengthen the institutions that secure these values at home, and help create a new consensus that spreads them abroad.

The forum will be broadcast via livestream at www.bushcenter.org on October 19.
