The George W. Bush Institute Launches Scorecard on North America
On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, the Bush Institute is launching a “North America Scorecard” to compare the competitive positions of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in the global economy. The Scorecard benchmarks North America’s performance in international rankings on issues like business climate, innovation, openness to trade and good governance against the performance of other major countries and trade groupings.
The official Scorecard unveiling will take place at the Bush Institute with President Bush delivering remarks. The event will consist of two panel sessions, a presentation and demonstration of the Scorecard with a brief Q&A followed by a discussion of North American competitiveness. A keynote address of North America as the key to U.S. competitiveness will conclude the morning session. The Dallas Morning News will cohost this event.
This project is a part of the Bush Institute’s Economic Growth program, which is focused on advocating free market policies to strengthen economic integration in North America. A stronger North America will bolster U.S. competitiveness in the global economy. The Scorecard uses data collected from third party sources to assess North America relative to other major regional economies and countries with large economies.
Media must receive appropriate credentials to cover the event. Media should apply for credentials no later than Friday, October 30th at 5:00 p.m. CT at http://www.bushcenter.org/newsroom/credentialing-and-coverage.

Housed within the George W. Bush Presidential Center, the George W. Bush Institute is an action-oriented, nonpartisan policy organization with the mission of cultivating leaders, fostering policies to solve today’s most pressing challenges, and taking action to save and change lives. It raises current and thought-provoking issues and builds programs to address the challenges facing our nation and our world. The work of the Bush Institute is inspired by the principles that guided the Bushes in public life: education is the foundation of a successful life; freedom is a universal human desire; free enterprise is the engine of economic prosperity; and every human life is precious.
About the Economic Growth Program:
The Bush Institute’s Economic Growth project is focused on advocating free market policies that promote further economic integration among the United States, Canada, and Mexico as the best way to create opportunity across the continent and enable the U.S. to better compete in the global economy. We foster smart policies in energy, immigration, human capital, border infrastructure, and natural resources, which play a vital role in achieving robust growth for North America. We intend to present an agenda of specific, achievable policy recommendations to advance our competitiveness through continental economic collaboration, culminating with the presentation of the working group’s recommendations to continental policymakers in early 2016.
