On Monday, President and Mrs. George W. Bush hosted a dinner for policy makers, business executives, and Bush Institute leaders to discuss North America becoming an even greater economic powerhouse.

President Bush, Bush Center President and CEO Kenneth Hersh, and Bush Institute Director of Economic Growth Matthew Rooney led the discussion, which included representatives from Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Participants focused on border infrastructure, monetary policy, and labor skills, among other issues.

The Institute’s North America Competitiveness Scorecard shows North America is more globally competitive than regions like the European Union. Still, the three nations can prosper more by addressing such challenges as the United States’ public debt, Mexico’s corruption, and Canada’s regulations.

After the election, the Bush Institute will release recommendations to strengthen North America, so stay tuned for more on this issue.
