How two Egyptian sisters are changing the publishing industry in Cairo

While other avenues of self-expression in Egypt, the likes of journalism and media, frequently come under fire on grounds of censorship, Cairo’s book-selling industry is a robust source of social life thanks to a pair of female entrepreneurs. Sisters Nadia and Hind Wassef, graduates of the American University in Cairo, founded their combination café book store in 2002 to serve as a casual hangout that hosts up-and-coming artists, musicians, lecturers, and filmmakers, all while curating books in four languages for adults and children alike.
