A Special Message from Mrs. Laura Bush about Summer Reading

As students leave school for the summer vacation, remember to make reading an integral part of summer plans.

Support children’s literacy and independent reading this summer by encouraging the students in your life to read even while they’re not in the classroom.

“As you finish the school year, please join me in encouraging the students in your life to keep reading during summer vacation. Students can visit your local library and check out new books each week.  Reading during the summer helps students maintain and improve their reading skills before the next school year.  Support independent reading this summer and build on the progress your students and children have made this year.

“Join the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries as we promote summer reading and put students on the path to success for the next school year.”
