November 11, 2013, President George W. Bush surprised a few groups of veterans, including members of the Southern Methodist University's student veterans groups and the Sons of the Flag, during their Veterans Day visit to the George W. Bush Presidential Center.  Also pictured is Col. Miguel Howe, USA, Ret.; Director of the George W. Bush Institute’s Military Service Initiative.  Veterans Day visitors to the Bush Presidential Museum are greeted by President Bush in this video message

Among those in attendance were Colonel Charles “Chuck” DeBellevue, USAF (Ret), and his wife Sally.  While serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, Col. DeBellevue became the first Air Force Weapon System Officer to become a “Flying Ace.”   He received the Air Force Cross, the second highest military award that can be given to a member of the United States Air Force.

Thank you for your service Colonel DeBellevue and to all the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
