Principals significantly impact student success.  Share how a principal has impacted your life and the lives of your children by using #ARELConvenes.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Bush Institute’s AREL will bring together approximately 100 leaders in education reform including representatives from AREL’s 28 principal preparation programs, policy makers, and former Bush Administration Officials.  The reason: to advance AREL’s mission of ensuring there is an effective principal, able to significantly advance student achievement, at the helm of every school.

When today’s middle school students graduate high school, they will face a world where two out of every three jobs will require some college education.  They will also face more global competition than any previous generation.   Such projections require an education system shaped by accountability, rigorous academic standards, and quality school leaders capable of implementing and upholding these important tenants of student success.

There are 49.3 million students in this country.  We have a moral imperative to ensure that every one of them is given opportunity through education and that no child is bound by the circumstances of the zip code he may be born in to. This begins with ensuring our school leaders have the preparation, skill-set, and authority to create meaningful change and impact school-wide student achievement, especially within failing schools.

AREL Convenes so every child can have an excellent principal.  The Bush Institute asks that you share this message and the impact of school leaders throughout the next week by using #ARELConvenes.  Be sure to follow our blog next week for more information on AREL’s Convening, its participants, and our keynote speakers.  You can also follow the convening live on Tuesday and Wednesday using #ARELConvenes.
