At the Yellow Ribbon Fund, we often use golf to build bridges between injured service members and the civilian community. For troops recovering in the Washington, DC, area, we organize golf outings to outstanding courses near our nation’s capitol. And every year in early July, we partner with the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va., to host our Golf Classic for Injured Service Members. It’s become one of the premiere fundraising events for injured troops. What makes this event unique is that supporters get the opportunity to play alongside their wounded heroes – every foursome includes an injured service member. It always proves to be a very special day of golf for every player on the course.

Since 2005, the Yellow Ribbon Fund has been making it possible for Americans to thank our injured service members for their sacrifice in ways that are personal, practical, and truly needed. That’s because we listen to what injured service members and their families say they need, and fill in the gaps. While injured troops are recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, YRF provides free rental cars, taxi rides, and hotel stays for visiting family members, and apartments to help keep outpatients together with their families; family-oriented activities and stress-relieving massages for family caregivers; and for their injured loved ones, more than 100 social events and outings yearly, free tickets to sporting and cultural events, and career and education mentoring. Even after they return home, YRF’s nationwide network of volunteers continue to provide practical support.  With the help of our donors and volunteers, we’ll keep on doing it for as long as they tell us that they need us.
