Tomorrow in Washington, Dr. Cynthia Maung, an inaugural member of the Freedom Collection, will receive the National Endowment for Democracy’s 2012 Democracy Award.  This honor recognizes the sacrifice of Burma's freedom advocates in advancing the cause of liberty so that others may be inspired to join their noble cause.  Hear the story of Dr. Cynthia’s tireless struggle to provide medical treatment to poor refugees from Burma, as her devotion to healthcare and democracy drove her into the Burmese jungle to escape the junta’s repression and eventually to the Thai-Burma border where she now provides medical care for those in desperation:Dr. Cynthia will receive the award along with fellow Burmese dissidents Min Ko Naing, Hkun Htun Oo, Kyaw Thu, and Aung Din.  As part of her historic visit to the United States, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will be in attendance to pay tribute to these brave activists.
