This summer there's yet another discussion in the news about whether women can have it all. Just in time, Furchtgott-Roth's book, “Women’s Figures” (updated edition, American Enterprise Institute Press) appears to show women do have it all — but in a different fashion than men. The wage gap between the genders is narrowing; women's unemployment is lower than men's. Original data, and in eye-pleasing charts, make “Women's Figures” useful for college or high school classrooms. "Like all Americans, women succeed not because the federal government guarantees their success but precisely because it does not," Furchtgott-Roth writes. What women need is not gender policy but stronger growth, she says. Furchtgott-Roth will start as a Bush Fellow of The 4% Growth Project this autumn.
