Matt Springer, the Bush Institute’s most recently appointed Fellow, is presenting the results of Vanderbilt University’s three-year study of the real-life effectiveness of performance pay for teachers. Vanderbilt will live-stream video of the event at http://news.vanderbilt.edu. An archive of the video will be posted to that website after the event. According to Vanderbilt’s press release, the event “will present the findings of the Project on Incentives in Teaching, or POINT, a three-year experiment conducted in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools that studied the effect of teacher pay bonuses on student performance. The study was conducted by the National Center on Performance Incentives at Vanderbilt in partnership with the RAND Corporation.” For background on POINT and the National Center on Performance Incentives, please visit http://www.performanceincentives.org/about-ncpi/index.aspx.
