DALLAS – The George W. Bush Presidential Centertoday announced the field of competitors for the 2011 Warrior Open, a two-day golf tournament featuring members of the U.S. Armed Forces who served their country honorably and were severely wounded during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Warrior Open is a 36-hole competition at Las Colinas Country Club, a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, in the Dallas area on October 10 and 11, 2011. The tournament will honor all those who serve and sacrifice to defend the United States of America, and will herald the many organizations that give their time, talents and resources to support the men and women of our military and their families.
In addition, the Bush Center announced the names of four military service organizations that will be highlighted during the tournament for their exceptional work in supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of 2011 Warrior Open competitors and their families: Hope For The Warriors, Salute Military Golf Association, Semper Fi Fundand Troops First Foundation.
Spectators are invited to attend the Warrior Open. Tickets are $10 each and will allow access on both October 10 and 11. They can be purchased at http://www.warrioropen.com. Members of the military may access up to 2 complimentary tickets.
The Warrior Open is the second of two events of the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative emphasizing the importance of sports like mountain biking and golf to the rehabilitation process for many of those seriously injured on the front lines. Inspired by the courage of those who have volunteered to wear our nation’s uniform, the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative honors the U.S. servicemen and women and their families who sacrifice to defend our freedom. The Military Service Initiative helps improve the impact of organizations that give their time, talents and resources to support these brave men and women.

The mission of Hope For The Warriors® is to enhance quality of life for U.S. service members and their families nationwide who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® actively seeks to ensure that the sacrifices of wounded and fallen warriors and their families are never forgotten nor their needs unmet.
Salute Military Golf Association
The Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) provides rehabilitative golf experiences for combat-wounded veterans in an effort to improve the quality of life for these American heroes. The SMGA believes the rehabilitative benefits of golf can improve the mental and physical condition of wounded warriors and provides golf instruction, equipment, and playing opportunities for combat-wounded American veterans injured in the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom theaters of war.
Semper Fi Fund
The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund provides immediate and long-term financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S Armed Forces and their families. They direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force or Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces. Support is provided in a variety of ways, including Service Member and Family Support; Adaptive Housing; Adaptive Transportation; Reintegration, Education, and Transition Assistance; Specialized and Adaptive Equipment; and “Recovery through Sport” with Team Semper Fi. The basic ideal that drives their efforts is simple: as much as these American heroes have sacrificed, they deserve the best care and support available in their hour of need.
Troops First Foundation
Troops First Foundation is a nonprofit organization that develops, operates and supports a synergistic group of wellness, quality of life and sports-based initiatives in support of today's military personnel. In August 2008, co-founders Rick Kell and David Feherty established Troops First Foundation in an effort to provide meaningful assistance from the community to our Service Members. After more than a few trips to the Middle East and numerous visits to our Wounded Warfighters at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Foundation identified the need to create several relevant and unduplicated programs along with specialized events designed for combat-wounded service members and their families that address relationship building, mentoring, reintegration and looking forward.
