Camp David: An Insider's Look

“Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management” will provide a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into historic Presidential retreat Camp David

DALLAS (February 20, 2019) – On March 5, the George W. Bush Presidential Center will present “Camp David: An Insider’s Look,” part of the “Engage at the Bush Center, Presented by Highland Capital Management” program series.  The sold-out event – which launches the Bush Center’s new special exhibit, Presidential Retreats: Away from the White House – will be livestreamed at bushcenter.org and via Facebook Live.

Expert panelists Rear Admiral Michael Giorgione (Ret.), the former commander of Camp David under President Clinton and President George W. Bush; White House Historical Association (WHHA) President Stewart McLaurin; and former White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten will offer an insider’s look into life at Camp David and its historical significance as a place for both relaxation and diplomacy.  President Bush and Captain Stan Fornea, CHC, USN (Ret.), the former Camp David chaplain, will offer introductory remarks.

Tickets include pre-opening access to the Bush Center’s new special exhibit: Presidential Retreats: Away from the White House, which opens Wednesday, March 6. The exhibit showcases Camp David, the Presidential retreat in the Maryland countryside, as well as Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas, and Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport, Maine.

The Engage public programming series brings newsmakers, thought leaders, and innovators to the Bush Center. Thought-provoking lectures and discussions allow visitors to connect with the Bush Center in a new way and dive deeper into many of the issues and policy areas that matter most.
