DALLAS, Texas

On September 22, 2015, Mrs. Laura Bush will be joined by First Lady Michelle Obama live via teleconference for an interactive conversation about the unique platform of First Ladies to improve the lives of women and girls.  The conversation will incorporate a series of questions from women and girls around the world, as well as empowering adolescent girls and ensuring education opportunities.

While in office, Mrs. Bush used her position to advocate for women, and she continues that work at the George W. Bush Institute through the Global Women’s Initiatives, which empower women and girls to lead in their communities and countries through access to education, health care, and economic opportunity. The First Lady will discuss Let Girls Learn, an initiative that seeks to help the more than 62 million girls who are not in school around the world—half of whom are adolescent—go to school and stay in school. The conversation will incorporate a series of questions from women and girls around the world.

Their discussion is part of the two-day 2015 Global Women’s Network, a summit hosted by the George W. Bush Institute focused on ideas, innovation, and partnerships to promote women’s education, health, and economic empowerment.

Partnering with tech industry pioneers Facebook and Google, the event brings together First Ladies from around the world, private and public sector leaders, and the next generation of innovators to showcase collaboration and effective solutions to pressing challenges for women and girls.

President George W. Bush will deliver remarks at the summit on September 22.
