On October 19-20, 2013, the Bush Institute’s signature economic initiative, the 4% Growth Project, will host its second economic debate national championship at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. This program, a partnership with the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance and the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues, as well as the St. Mark’s Heart of Texas Invitational and Southern Methodist University, will bring nearly 100 students from around the country for an exciting two days of debate.
The Bush Institute Economic Debate Program is one of the signature initiatives of the 4% Growth Project. The goal of the program is to encourage students to think critically about economic issues during their formative years. Participating in debate teaches young people valuable communications skills, and numerous studies show that debate students often become influential leaders.
The final round of debate is open to the media, as are remarks by President George W. Bush and the announcement of finalists and the winner of the debate.
