Liberty and Leadership Forum

Poe Say is a human rights worker.

In 2001, when the conflict between the Burmese Army (Tatmadaw) and Karen armed groups worsened, Poe Say moved to a refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border. There, and at another camp, he continued his education until graduation.

Poe Say joined the Karen Human Rights Group (KHRG) in 2010 as an information processing officer responsible for translating and reporting to KHRG field researchers. Since 2011, he has been the organization’s Human Rights Documentation Manager, with responsibility for planning and leading human rights documentation trainings for KHRG field researchers and other community-based organizations. Poe Say is also responsible for writing field reports about the human rights situation in particular districts in KHRG research areas, and for local and international human rights advocacy. KHRG is the only local human rights organization working in remote areas in Southeast Burma.
