Conversation on the Role of International Trade

September 20, 2016

The George W. Bush Institute believes that the key to America’s prosperity is open global markets for trade and investment driven by consumers making economic choices. On September 20, 2016, the Bush Institute hosted a conversation with U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, former U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab, Ross Perot, Jr., and Bush Center President Ken Hersh on the importance of international trade in growing the U.S. economy.

Globalization and trade have reshaped the world economy. Countries compete with each other to attract investment, innovation, and jobs. Explore the Bush Institute’s North America Competitiveness Scorecard's interactive map to see how North America ranks in the world and how it could put the U.S. on a sustainable growth trajectory.
