George W. Bush Presidential Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary

Family Activities, Special Guests, New Artifacts and more; April 20 – April 27

DALLAS, TX (DATE) — The George W. Bush Presidential Center, thanks to the generous support of Northern Trust, will offer free admission, host family activities, showcase new artifacts and welcome special guests from Friday, April 20 through Friday, April 27, in celebration of its fifth anniversary. The Bush Center was dedicated to the American people on April 25, 2013, and has welcomed more than 1 million visitors through its doors since.  

“In the past five years, we have engaged the community through our thought-provoking public programming, our partnership with SMU, and the rich experience we provide for all visitors to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum,” says Ken Hersh, President and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center. “We are excited about continuing our efforts and the impact we will make on generations to come.”

The 5th Anniversary Celebration

During the week-long celebration, visitors will explore never-before-seen artifacts including unique gifts and one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Bush-Cheney Alumni who worked alongside President and Mrs. Bush, and Bush Institute experts will be stationed throughout the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum galleries, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and intriguing facts with museum patrons. Family activities, including balloon artists and face painters, Native Park tours, and lawn games in the Texas Rose Garden, will be available during select times and days throughout the week. In the Ceremonial Courtyard, free samples of Mrs. Bush’s Cowboy Cookies will be available, and The Courtyard Café will offer food specials daily featuring favorite dishes of President and Mrs. Bush.

In addition to the fifth anniversary celebration, visitors can also view the current exhibit, First Ladies, Style of Influence on display through October 1. First Ladies: Style of Influence examines how the role of the first lady has evolved over time, and how they have used their position to advance diplomacy and other social, cultural, and political initiatives.
