Last week, The Bush Center hosted Austin ISD, Granite School District, Chesterfield County Public Schools, and Fort Worth ISD in Dallas for the first session of the School Leadership Initiative District Cohort. The meeting included team building exercises, conversations with experts like Principal Beth Thompson, coaching, and an overview of tools and resources to support the districts as they start this three-year journey with the Bush Institute.

Rooted in President and Mrs. Bush’s belief that “excellent schools must first have excellent leaders,” the Bush Institute developed the School Leadership Initiative, formerly known as the Alliance to Reform Leadership (AREL), to dramatically improve the way our Nation’s principals are prepared and supported.

The School Leadership District Cohort is a professional learning community of four selected school districts from across the U.S. that will work hand-in-hand with the Bush Institute’s Education Reform team to improve how they find, support, and keep effective principals. This three-year project is based on the Bush Institute’s Principal Talent Management Framework.
