The Military Service Initiative spotlights the impactful work of successful military-focused non-profit organizations as they selflessly give time, talent and resources to support our Warriors and their families. For many, they provide help essential to recovery, transition, and empowerment. This inspiring community of effort comprising fellow citizens, businesses, and non-profits are every day improving the well-being of our National Assets and their families while honoring their bravery and sacrifice.

Fisher House Foundation builds homes away from home for family members, military members…we have Fisher houses so that families can stay there, remove their burdens, don’t have to worry about where they’re going to sleep at night.” – Tish Stropes, Fisher House Foundation

I was actually a home recipient from Military Warrior Support Foundation (MWSF)…I got a call to find out ‘hey we’re going to give you a house at the Bank of America 500’ NASCAR race. Bank of America had me out to the race, they were the donor of the home through MWSF. So now I have a mortgage-free home from that organization which is absolutely outstanding.” – Staff Sergeant Benjamin Dellinger

Our mission is very simple and that’s leave no family behind on the field of battle. We provide scholarships for spouses and kids who have had someone either killed or disabled in Iraq and Afghanistan….we’ve awarded nearly 5,500 scholarships across the country.” – Major Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor Foundation

While I was in therapy, I think no matter how hard you try to hide it, others can see that you’re not as happy as you should be. Jim Estes from Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) came into therapy one day, found me, started talking to me asking if I was interested in golf…two or three more visits and he talked me into coming out and trying it out…that started getting me out of the hospital more, that started to getting me out into the public where the community could embrace me and kind of pull me back up.” – Sergeant Tim Lang
