It’s almost International Women’s Day.  To celebrate, the Freedom Collection is sharing inspirational stories that affirm that human freedom is not limited by gender, race, or creed.  Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first democratically-elected, female head of state, is one of the many examples of women dedicated to the expansion of human freedom.  Neither imprisonment nor exile extinguished her belief that the people of Liberia deserved better than living through perpetual war:
